Novelcat is a Firefox extension that adds library holdings information to Novelist. For example, in the Novelist search results show below, Novelcat has added a blue paw next to the ISBN of the first item, indicating that ISBN (or associated ISBNs, see below) is(are) held by the library in question. The paw is also a link the to the catalog record the of the matching item or items.

Novelcat uses OCLC's xISBN to find associated ISBNs, which means Novelcat will search the library catalog for all manifestations of a particular book.

Currently, Novelcat supports all WYLD libraries. Support for other libraries could be added so if you're interested, please email me.

Go on, give it a try and realize how useful it is: no more opening every Novelist search result item just to find the one item that your library actually owns.

1. Click Install Novelcat.
2. A manila box ("Firefox prevented this site (wyldhacks.info) from asking you to install software on your computer.") will appear at the top of your browser window. On the right-hand side, click "Edit Options...".
3. In the window that pops up, click "Allow".
4. Click Install Novelcat again.
5. In the window that pops up, wait for the countdown and click "Install Now".
6. Go to Novelist and try it out.
